After previously announcing that all UberX operations in Korea would be free in an effort to circumvent the ride sharing service’s restrictions by the government and to protect Uber drivers, Uber Korea has announced that they will shut down all operations in South Korea until negotiations can be held. The hope is that the company and the South Korean government may yet come to an agreement that will allow them to both be happy with Uber’s presence in the nation which first launched in late 2014 despite the opposition from the government.

The shut down will begin from Friday March 6th at 5:00 pm.
